David McCulloch will be the guest speaker at our meeting on the 10th, and will discuss the unique physiology and evolution of our shelled friends. He will touch on efforts to improve their situation both for those in the wild and those in captivity. Finally, David will share his knowledge about the desert tortoise, one of his personal favorites.  There will be an open discussion afterwards.

Bio

David McCulloch served as the VP of the SDTTS in 1983 and was then elected president and served as such well into the 90's. His main job then was to chair the meetings and organize the many wonderful hard working volunteers who do the real work for the society.

David’s favorite job though was public education.  He visited schools in the San Diego area, bringing several tortoises with him, and spoke to kids about turtles and tortoises, ecology, conservation, and our personal responsibility to manage the worlds natural treasures.  The hardest part, he admits, was competing with the tortoises for attention.
